Now that autumn has arrived, it's time for a caffeinated drink that brings many of us happiness! Large coffee chains have popularized a drink called the pumpkin spice latte, some criticize the quantity of sugar put in it, the chemicals used to reproduce the pumpkin aroma and the denaturation of the coffee.

That said, given the great popularity of this fall-flavoured drink, recently, coffee shops have reinvented the drink by creating an original pumpkin spice latte recipe.

Our team offers you a pumpkin and spice syrup recipe that allows you to make many lattes with autumn flavours. A revisited version of this famous latte that is healthier, less artificial and even better than the original according to the coffee gang!

Pumpkin spice syrup

Ingredients:

Makes about 11⁄2 cups of syrup (for making many coffees!) The syrup will last refrigerated for about 5 days.

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1⁄2 cup maple syrup*

  • 1⁄2 cup brown sugar

  • 1⁄3 cup pumpkin purée

  • 1 tbsp. teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 tbsp. teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1⁄4 tsp. teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1⁄4 tsp. teaspoon ground ginger

  • 2 whole cloves or 1⁄4 tsp. teaspoon of ground cloves

*We like the flavour added by using maple syrup in this recipe, but you can easily replace it with the same amount of sugar or brown sugar, while adding about 1⁄4 cup of additional water.

Preperation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients.
  • Mix well and bring to a boil.
  • Cook until the mixture is smooth and the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Allow to cool completely before using.
  • With the syrup prepared, you are now ready to prepare a latte!
