Barista is lucky to have a wonderful and united team that is always a pleasure to work with, loyal customers that are passionate about coffee and always engaging to talk to, and incredible collaborators and partners that are joyous to work alongside. In a word, we are truly spoiled!
We are grateful to have this great fortune, love, and success from all those we work with. As so, we think it is paramount for our team to pay it forward by providing our help and support to those in need.
Barista is involved in the community in many ways and never misses an opportunity to give back and collaborate with the various organizations that get in touch with us.
For a few years now, we have been organizing major fundraising campaigns for the ‘Le Phare Enfants et Familles’ organization, which provides essential resources for family-oriented pediatric palliative care. For each kilo we sell of our limited edition Cremone des fêtes coffee, we give $5 to this wonderful organization to support their ever-important mission.
Every year, for over 10 years now, our team has had the privilege of collaborating with the La Corbeille Bordeaux-Cartierville organization. We support them in their essential mission to provide food security for the citizens of the Ahuntsic-Cartierville area, which helps facilitate their social and professional integration back into society. Each year, around the holidays, we provide boxes filled with coffee bags for their food bank. It's a small gesture that we very much hope warms hearts every year. We ultimately decided to create the Umanita La Corbeille coffee, of which $2.50 is provided to the organization for each bag sold.
Barista has also paired up with the Véro & Louis Foundation by creating a special blend in collaboration with the Chez Cheval café. Both companies provide $1 to the Foundation for each bag of coffee sold. This contributes to the creation of living spaces for people with autism aged 21 and older.
Always looking to get involved with another great cause and to contribute to the success of various non-profit associations, Barista is also a partner of Procure, a charitable organization fighting prostate cancer, to which we provide products for their fundraising drives.
Our brand is always seeking to provide consumers with sustainable products, which is why we are always looking for partners that can help us reduce our environmental footprint, as well as ones that offer organic and Fairtrade products.
This is how all our products are certified organic by Québec Vrai, and Fairtrade certified by Fairtrade Canada. What does that mean?
Organic certification requires that all products that go into coffee have zero exposure to pesticides. More generally, it also means that products have to be grown without the use of chemicals. The verifications required for organic certification require the establishment of a production record detailing product traceability. As a result, Barista's Québec Vrai certification requires that the company be able to trace what it is made of, from A to Z.
As for the Fairtrade certification, this guarantees that the working and living conditions of those working on coffee plantations are up to a certain standard. It is not just about wages; the idea is to adequately compensate farmers so that they can also improve life in general on the plantations, as many of the workers often live there too. For verification, it is still all about traceability. We need to know where the products are coming from, since the Fairtrade Canada association, in its relationship with Barista, must approve of the living conditions in which coffee plantation workers live.
Now, what do you say about an organic and Fairtrade cup of coffee?
Do you have a project to implement, a cause you're dedicated to, or an event to fund? Selling coffee is a great way to raise funds, and it presents a number of advantages: it's a daily-consumed commodity, it is simple, everyone loves coffee, and it's local! That means you can keep your campaign going for as long as you want!
The Umanita project is geared toward any non-profit organization that would like to sell Barista products to fund some of their activities and reach their goals.
The Podium program is open to athletes of all levels that want to sell Barista coffee to finance their activities. The program was established to help young athletes in pursuit of excellence.
