It would be a lie if we said that there was a shortage of cafés in Montreal. However, Café L’Étincelle in Rosemont-la-Petite-Patrie, stands out by a mile, due to the warm welcome and passion of the two owners: brothers Rémi and Benjamin Deloume.
A Brief History
Rémi is a screenwriter and comedian, and one day he found himself helping the owner of Café du Romancier, which is where Café L’Étincelle is now located.
Business wasn’t good, so the owner asked him if he wanted to take over the business. Rémi hesitated, but then he called his brother Benjamin, and a few months later, the brand-new Café L’Étincelle opened its doors!
Today the coffee shop has really become a gem in the neighbourhood. It’s also still a family business: in addition to the two brothers, who are the co-owners, their father also helps out: “we are the three bald heads working inside”, joked Rémi during an interview with the newspaper, 24 Heures.
Not a Café Like All the Others
Café L’Étincelle, is the ideal neighbourhood café. The clients are all regulars with their own little habits, and they love to catch up on the news with Rémi and Benjamin. Located on Beaubien Street East, it is a true meeting place in the cool, family neighbourhood of Rosemont.
We also love the ambiance of the place: there is a mix of colours and mismatched furniture, which creates an incredible warmth. An orange chair with rungs here, a homemade multicoloured table there…you have to see it to understand.
Café L’Étincelle has been a part of our coffee family since it was created, and they put a lot of effort into serving high-quality caffeinated beverages. Clearly, the coffee blends are truly excellent (wink wink nudge nudge), but also as they are the owners, the employees always take the time to follow the rules of the art when making each coffee…and always with a smile!
Also, if you go on the café’s Facebook page you can clearly see the community spirit. Positive comments about the good ambiance are everywhere, and Café L’Étincelle loves to joke with its clients in the comments!
A Varied Spread
At Café L’Étincelle, you will find a nice selection of homemade pastries (butter croissants, pain au chocolat, kouign-amann, madeleines, muffins, brownies, etc.) and they are all to die for. You can also nibble on a healthy breakfast like their vegan Chia seed pudding, or a smoothie, or even just a yogurt!
For a more filling meal, there is always their paninis or omelettes. And obviously, don’t forget to get a coffee with any of that! Café L'Étincelle is located at 1991 Beaubien Street East in Montréal.
