‘Cold brew’ made its remarkable debut in specialized coffee shops a few years ago during the ‘third coffee wave’. However, the concept has been around forever. According to a Guardian article published in 2014, the Dutch were already concocting a concentrated coffee product brewed with cold water in the 17th century!
Nowadays, there's an almost infinite variety of variations of and uses for cold brew. It has been carbonated with nitrogen to create nitro cold brew, which is stored in kegs. It has been bottled to be sold on grocers’ shelves. And it can be found in a whole variety of beverages, most notably in cocktails, beers, and desserts.
The primary advantage of cold brew is that it fully captures the aroma of the brewed beans. It is an excellent way to enjoy the pure origins and even the flaws of a given blend. However, despite its long brew time, it yields very little bitterness. What's more, it is a very strongly caffeinated beverage, which is great for when you need a good energy boost!
The Mizudashi cold brewer was created to make the already simple brewing process even easier. Two steps, no dishes, and a practical pouring spout make it the ideal tool to prepare your cold brew. As a bonus, you can even steep tea in it! Add a little ice to your favourite brew, and voilà!
