08 Oct Our Boutique Café Barista microtorréfacteur
Opening a café is no small feat! It was with much anticipation last winter that we gathered the team together to help move all of the equipment and furnishings into our new location on 111 de Louvain Street West.
After renovations, designing our Boutique Café, setting up our roasting stations, training areas, and finalizing the move, we were finally able to open our doors last June to welcome all of you to our café!
Located in Montreal’s Chabanel district this new space was once used to store ammunition during the Second World War. With its rich history, and with no shortage of character, it provides us with the opportunity to host all of our coffee-related activities in a single place; offering our clientele the best possible Barista experience, every single time.
When you enter our space, not only can you enjoy a cup of coffee from our Boutique Café, but you can also take part in one of our coffee training courses from the National Barista Institute. Expanding your knowledge and perfecting your technique, you can explore the equipment we offer; from espresso machines to grinders. In the café you can also see where we roast all of our blends, providing you with insight into the artisanal process that creates the coffee you love to drink.
The mural and design of the café
Since day one of the project, we wanted the design to be impactful when our friends and clients entered the space. We looked to social media to find an emerging artist that could paint murals worthy of that impression. From that desire we had the pleasure of meeting the talented artist Charles Paradis; and magic ensued! His ideas and creativity, coupled with his black and white melody, referencing all things coffee, depicted on the walls the creative essence that makes our coffees so special.
While the mural is definitely a major focal point of the café, we also wanted to highlight the use of raw materials for the layout of the space, such as wood, brick, and concrete. All of the wood that was used to make the counters and tables was taken from our previous location. The repurposing of materials has allowed us to be innovative while remaining conscientious of our choice to reduce the ecological footprint of our renovations.
Whether it is simply to enjoy a coffee infused with love from our team, or to take part in one of our barista trainings courses, or even to simply stock up on coffee advice, it is always our pleasure to have you at the café.
Our Boutique Café, located at 111 de Louvain Street West, is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm and Saturday from 9am to 3pm.
If you follow us on social media, you have probably come across our series “Mon Premier Café Barista’’ (My First Café) that trace the journey of the company from its very beginnings to today. If you have not already, or even if you have, watch them again here!
